Fried Cheese Curds Recipe

Looking for a crowd-pleasing snack or appetizer? These crispy, gooey fried cheese curds made with Simply Cheese Amish cheese curds are the ultimate treat! Perfectly golden and bursting with flavor, they’re a bite-sized indulgence your family and friends will love.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Simply Cheese Amish cheese curds
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 large egg
  • ¾ cup milk (or buttermilk for extra flavor)
  • 1½ cups breadcrumbs (panko works great for extra crunch)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Cheese Curds:

    • Spread the cheese curds out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • Freeze the cheese curds for 1-2 hours. Freezing helps the cheese hold its shape and prevents it from oozing out during frying.
  2. Make the Batter:

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and paprika.
    • Add the egg and milk (or buttermilk) to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. The batter should be thick enough to coat the cheese curds. If it's too thick, add a splash of milk.
  3. Set Up Breading Station:

    • Place the breadcrumbs in a shallow dish.
  4. Coat the Cheese Curds:

    • Remove the cheese curds from the freezer.
    • Dip each frozen cheese curd into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated.
    • Roll the battered cheese curd in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Heat the Oil:

    • Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Fry the Cheese Curds:

    • Carefully drop a few cheese curds at a time into the hot oil (avoid overcrowding).
    • Fry for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
    • Use a slotted spoon to remove the curds and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve:

    • Serve the deep-fried cheese curds hot with your favorite dipping sauces, such as marinara, ranch, or a spicy aioli.

Tips for Success:

  • Freezing the cheese curds is highly recommended to ensure they don’t melt and lose their shape while frying.
  • Fry in small batches to keep the oil temperature steady and ensure even cooking.
  • For extra flavor, season the breadcrumbs with a little salt, pepper, and dried herbs.

Enjoy your perfectly crispy and gooey Amish cheese curds!
