- Cook Time: 10 minutes
- Total Time: 25 minutes
- Servings: 4 burgers
Ingredients
For the Burger Patties:
- 1 pound organic ground beef (80% lean)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
For Assembling the Burgers:
- 4 artisanal burger buns
- 4 slices of your favorite Amish cheese (e.g., Amish cheddar, Swiss, or Colby)
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 4 tomato slices
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 8 pickle slices
- 4 strips of crispy bacon (optional - but why not?)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Grill
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 375-400°F or 190-200°C). Alternatively, you can use a stovetop grill pan.
2. Season the Burger Patties
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Gently mix the ingredients, being careful not to overwork the meat.
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) thick.
3. Grill the Burger Patties
Place the burger patties on the preheated grill. Grill for approximately 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare burgers, or adjust the cooking time to your desired level of doneness.
During the last minute of grilling, add a slice of Amish cheese to each patty. Close the grill lid to allow the cheese to melt slightly.
4. Toast the Burger Buns
While the burger patties are grilling, cut the burger buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill until they are golden brown.
5. Prepare the Burger Toppings
Combine the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard in a small bowl. Mix well.
Spread the mayo-mustard mixture on the bottom half of each toasted burger bun.
Layer each burger bun with lettuce leaves, a tomato slice, red onion slices, and pickle slices.
6. Assemble the Cheeseburgers
Once the burger patties have reached your preferred level of doneness and the Amish cheese has melted, carefully transfer each patty onto the prepared burger buns.
Add crispy bacon strips (if desired) on top of the cheese-covered patties.Place the top half of the burger buns on each burger to complete the assembly.
7. Serve and Enjoy
Your gourmet Amish Cheeseburgers are now ready to be savored. Serve them alongside your favorite sides, such as sweet potato fries, coleslaw, or a fresh garden salad.
Indulge in the flavors of National Cheeseburger Day with these delectable gourmet Amish Cheeseburgers. The combination of juicy, perfectly grilled patties and the rich, creamy Amish cheese will delight your taste buds and make this day even more special.
